Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at New Gateway Park

On Thursday, September 13th Whitemarsh Township dedicated a new gateway pocket park on the corner of Flourtown Road and Butler Pike. The Board of Supervisors, Township Officials, and the community enjoyed a ceremonial ribbon cutting and unveiling of a permanent cast iron plaque. The parcel was purchased in 2012 with the Township Open Space EIT fund, which was enacted by the Citizens of Whitemarsh in 2007 for the acquisition and preservation of local open space. The parcel has become a scenic passive park with a welcoming sign, flowering trees, and seasonal plantings. A highlight of the park is an internal meandering accessible walkway that leads to a center focal point with a trellis, benches, and picnic table.
