Citizen Participation
The Board of Supervisors is responsible to protect and promote the right of the citizens of Whitemarsh Township to participate in a positive and constructive manner in the government of the township. Any qualified citizen of the township may participate in the government of the township by:

Registered electors of the township have the following powers:
Participation
Service minded residents interested in participating on one of the township's volunteer boards or commissions should complete the application form and submit online or mail it to the Township Manager's Office.
The Board of Supervisors is responsible to protect and promote the right of the citizens of Whitemarsh Township to participate in a positive and constructive manner in the government of the township. Any qualified citizen of the township may participate in the government of the township by:
- Seeking the office of and voting for candidates for Supervisor
- Serving on boards, commissions, authorities or other agencies of the township
- Attending and being heard at all public meetings of the Board of Supervisors and other boards, commissions, authorities or other agencies of the township
- Addressing suggestions to the Board of Supervisors and others to provide guidance for their actions
- Exercising the right of initiative and referendum as provided in the Home Rule Charter or general law
Powers
Registered electors of the township have the following powers:
- Initiative: to propose ordinances to the Board of Supervisors which are consistent with the charter and general law and to adopt or reject the same at a primary, municipal or general election if the board fails to adopt an ordinance so proposed without any change in substance; and
- Referendum: to require repeal by the Board of Supervisors of any adopted ordinance, and, if the board fails to repeal said ordinance, to repeal it at a primary, municipal or general election.
